Dont know if this is a CAD thing perse' but quite often my pdf's dont fully print...there can be patches missing. This can be very dangerous as you can imagine as these pdfs can be issued with valuable information missing.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens?

Is it an Adobe problem?

Our CAD manager said purge and audit sometimes works....but even if this is so...does one have to purge and audit every drawing just in case???

plot stamp on a .dxf file

I am using AutoCAD 2008. If I save a .dwg to a .dxf (AutoCAD versions 2007 or 2004) it will not work in ISOGEN. So, I saved the .dxf file with the plot stamp on it to AutoCAD version 12. ISOGEN will accept the .dxf AutoCAD version 12. When I save the .dwg as a .dxf the plot stamp disappears. I manually add the plot stamp to the .dxf file and saved the file. When I reopened the .dxf file, the stamp was no longer there. I need to have the plot stamp on the .dxf. I want to use this .dxf file for ISOGEN. Any ideas?

Video Card Question

Hi All, We recently replaced the only AutoCAD 2008 machine in our company with a new one, and are now having issues where regeneration of drawings take a long time. The old machine was running an Intel Core 2 6600 at 2.4, 4 gigs of RAM. The new one runs a Core 2 Duo E6550 at 3.33, 4 gigs memory (Precision 390 to T3400). Based just on that, we would not expect to have this issue. I'm speculating however on the suitability of the new video card. The old machine was running a Quadro FX 550. The new one runs a Quadro NVS 290. This was never considered before swapping them out. We do have the latest drivers from NVIDIA on the new machine, but if the card is just unsuitable, that won't help much. I'm feeling very out of my element here (more of a networking guy), but I've been tasked with figuring this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will provide as much additional information as I can upon request.

There must be a way to do this. I have messed around for awhile trying to figure it out but haven't yet. Do you really need to open each drawing to print it out a certain way? For example, 11x17, monochrome, print extents, landscape, etc. Thanks.

Help with aerial photo quality

I am using AutoCAD Map 3D 2008. I have downloaded .tiff aerials from an online state source (michigan deq). I am inserting them into the dwg via insert>raster image reference. I overlay all my site information.

When I zoom into the area that I want to print, the printed image is always blurry. The zoomed in area is usually a single project site, average small commerical site. My current client wants me to plot onto 24"x36" paper .. and the result is really blurry. The local print shop is wanting me to plot to a pdf, and I have selected 'maximum' for the quality output.

Please help .. I really don't know what to do to make my images crisp. Is there anything I can do?

Hello! I have been having a serious issue with ACA 2008. Everything will be working fine, then I will start ACA and get the following message : "Catalogue file C\Documents and settings \ mike \ Application Data \ Autodesk \ ACD-A 2008 \ enu \ Support \ AcFields.fdc not found ". I click OK and the screen comes up with no menus or pulldowns. All the palettes come up and I can access dwg files from the project browser, but none of the tool palettes work. Repair and re-install don't work: the only way I have found to remedy this is to uninstall ACA and then do a new install. Has anyone come across this before ? I tried with a normal User and does'nt work. I tried User with PC's admin rights and nothing: doesn't work! I can't launch program outside the Domain of our corporation. Any help muchly appreciated! Thanks a lot Nicolò Zamberlan

Does anyone know a way of permanently disabling the perpendicular snap, so a user cannot switch it on.

A particular user has an inhibility to draught orthogonal lines, so the use of the perp snap only serves to worsen the situation. Ruining any drawing they get their hands on.

If I turn it off, it just gets turned back on. This is one of the Directors so he will NOT be told.

When I plot to PDF in AutoCAD 2008, some arc segments are offsetting. For instance, I am trying to PDF an architectural moulding profile that has several arcs connected end to end. When I plot to the PDF, some of the arcs appear to be offset, and the ends to not meet. I have even tried making them a polyline but this does not help.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.
